The subterranean chamber falls silent as you take in what you've discovered—the ancient vault of Alseta's Ring and the deed to Citadel Altaerein itself. The trials you've endured to reach this point have been many: the chaos of the burning town hall, the goblin dogs in the foyer, the Bumblebrasher goblins trapped on the battlements, and Calmont's desperate standoff before his arrest and return to Breachill.

Throughout the citadel's chambers, you've faced the soulbound doll, Big Bumble the grizzly bear, and the Cinderclaw cultists. In the vaults below, you confronted the animated remains of long-dead Hellknights, while the Goblinblood Caves led you to the tixitog Balka. Your final confrontation with the Cinderclaw sub-commander Malarunk exposed the true threat: their attempts to reactivate Huntergate in service to Dahak.

The Cinderclaws worship Dahak, the destructive dragon god who seeks to bring about an apocalyptic "Age of Ashes." Should they succeed in fully activating Huntergate, they would create a permanent connection between Alseta's Ring and their stronghold in the Mwangi Expanse, allowing them to pour reinforcements into Isger while furthering their ultimate goal—the manifestation of Dahak's power that would bring devastation across Golarion.

You've eliminated Voz Lirayne, the local bookseller whose necromantic practices and alliance with the mysterious Scarlet Triad drove her obsession with Alseta's Ring. With both immediate threats neutralized, the ancient aiudara network—six elven portals connecting distant lands—now lies under your protection.

The deed to the citadel, found precisely where the Hellknights left it as a test for worthy successors, marks you as the rightful owners of this fortress—and the guardians of the secrets it contains.

Alak Stagram stands beside you in Alseta's Vault, the family signet ring you recovered for him now proudly worn on his finger. His customary stern demeanor has softened slightly, a hint of respect evident in his posture as he addresses you.

"It seems I owe you a greater debt than I anticipated," he says, his deep voice echoing slightly in the stone chamber. "Not only have you helped me recover my family's heirloom, but you've proven yourselves worthy successors to this keep."

He runs a gauntleted hand along the ancient wall, a mixture of nostalgia and pragmatism in his eyes.

"The Order of the Nail has little interest in reclaiming Citadel Altaerein, truth be told. Our focus lies in Varisia now. But I approve of the citadel falling into capable hands rather than continuing as a haven for monsters and cultists."

Alak straightens his posture, returning to his more formal bearing.

"I'll inform my superiors of your claim to the keep. They'll likely be satisfied knowing responsible owners will maintain and respect it. Far better than the alternative."

He glances at the deed in your possession, then back to your faces.

"The restoration work will be... substantial. But I sense you're equal to the task." A rare half-smile crosses his face. "Besides, it's best not to leave an ancient elven portal network unguarded, wouldn't you agree?"

From the shadows of the chamber, Renali steps forward. In her human form, only the strange sheen of her eyes and her slightly jerky movements hint at her true anadi nature. She gestures toward Huntergate, the portal that once brought her to these caves.

"I've been trapped here too long," she says, her voice measured but urgent. "My home—my real home—lies on the other side of that portal. In the Mwangi Expanse."

She studies your group carefully, measuring your reactions.

"The Cinderclaws serve Dahak, the destructive dragon god. Their presence in my homeland grows daily. They mine gold tainted with Dahak's essence and corrupt all they touch." Her voice hardens with resolve. "If they manage to fully activate Huntergate, they'll pour through from the Mwangi Expanse, bringing Dahak's influence with them. The devastation would be... unimaginable."

Renali's gaze moves between each of you, lingering on the hunter's arrowhead you recovered from Malarunk.

"That arrowhead may be the key to reactivating Huntergate. With it, we could travel directly to their stronghold and stop them before they can attempt another incursion. I know those jungles—the paths, the dangers. I could guide you."

Alak shifts his weight, armor plates clicking softly as he frowns. "Dahak? This is deeply concerning." His hand unconsciously moves to the hilt of his greatsword. "A cult dedicated to the god of dragon destruction is no small matter. I'll bring this report to my superiors immediately."

He nods curtly to each of you. "I wish you well in your endeavors. This threat may prove greater than any of us anticipated." With a formal salute, he turns to leave. "May the order guide your path. Farewell."

Renali falls silent, awaiting your response, as the ancient chamber of Alseta's Ring holds its breath around you.
